The MindUP Program

Evidence-based and easy to implement, MindUP helps you develop the mental fitness to build a happier, healthier and more balanced life. The MindUP Program teaches the strategies and skills you need to find optimism, build resilience and create solutions for life's challenges.

4 Pillars of the MindUP Program

The field of neuroscience seeks to understand the structure and function of the brain and nervous system. In MindUP, students learn about the concept of neuroplasticity, and how their brain regulates emotions.

Mindful Awareness

Mindful awareness – Mindfulness – is an intentional non-judgmental awareness of the present moment, and has been linked with multiple indicators of well-being. Mindfulness can be fostered via practice. In MindUP, students learn and practice mindful awareness to develop focused attention, emotional balance, and well-being.

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology is the study of the strengths that contribute to individual and community thriving and well-being. MindUP infuses evidence-based strategies from the field of positive psychology to help students thrive, and bolster their well-being.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

Social emotional learning (SEL) refers to how individuals acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors needed to develop the skills for self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. MindUP offers students explicit SEL instruction and opportunities to practice developing SEL skills through active learning.

MindUP Research Pillars: Benefits

MindUP infuses developmental neuroscience, mindful awareness practice, social emotional learning, and positive psychology to foster children’s well-being and resiliency.

MindUP teaches children about the brain. Understanding the structure of the brain and how it functions gives children a sense of control and empowerment.

Students regularly practice a “brain break,” a mindful awareness practice. Mindfulness-based practices have been shown to increase mental health and improve emotion regulation.

People who can regulate their emotions are more likely to show empathy and to act prosocially towards others.

MindUP infuses strategies derived from the science of happiness to provide children with skills to foster well-being and happiness.

Children who have received MindUP have shown better stress regulation and stress management as well as reduced aggression.
